About us

The year 2010

We get on with our project of low-treshold club for children and youth in a new location of Libuš/ Písnice/ Kunratice. We work with children from neighbouring of our club and try to offer several leisure time activities and tutor classes to them.

There are also both organized activities and guidance for families with kids once pre week (on Wednesday in the afternoon) in our club.

From 20.4. you can attend the course of Czech language for beginners in our place too. It takes place regularly twice per week always on Tuesday and Thursday.

Our volunteers offer conversation in Czech, Vietnamese, English and German languages.

From 2007 to 2009

We moved to a new location with the address Ohradní 12, where we have renovated the activity of our low-treshold club Lačhe Čhave in the ground floor of the building. We offered fancy program and help with learning and making homework to our clients from Monday to Friday. Unfortunately most of our clients from our previus location in Náměstí Bratří Synků in Nusle had not visited our club any more that is why we started to cooperate with the primary schools from nighbouring. We organized a lot of trips and weekend programs.

We took place in cooking competition in low-treshold club for children and youth in Ostrava. We started to cooperate with another low-treshold club in Pilsner and continued in cooperation with Surrogate family care.

Regular activities were variegated by American students who communicated in English with kids and taught them new English words through games. As well as couple of students of Charles University and other colleges took their practical trainings in our facility.

What is the problem of our project about

Roma childrem from the area of Náměstí Bratří Synků are very often joined to the trade with heroin. Knowledge in drug problems of Roma people is usually very poor. Sometimes they even are not able to conceive information about drugs in normal way of their explanation and to suit their lifestyle to them. Roma drug addicts and their relatives mostly do not go into any detoxication center or guidance and they have not got any motivation for long-term treatment. Regarding this poor knowledge and hygiene habits there is the risk of spreading infection. Children in different age live together almost without any contact to their patents or other adults witch leads to truancy, asocial behaviour like stealing and so on very often. Many of them spend a lot o time in front of a slot machine.

What is our project based on

Our project „PRO“ started in October 1997. 20 students from pedagogical and social collages participated it. They took courses ofcommunication skills, social work and leisure time activities like innovative physical activities, art, musical and dramatic activities witch were taught by several specialists. The main point of this workshop was not only to gain experience and inspiration but above all the participants of the project had an opportunity to meet each other and reach important contacts useful for the whole project.

History and commission of our organization

On Spring 1997 Mr. Ladislav Stojka (speaker of� Roma people) asked the Office of the Government for help with problems of Roma people. He was concerned especially about increasing number of drug users in Roma community. Based on his initiative the Foundation „ Pomozte Olašským Romům“ was established and the project „PRO“ was elaborated with the help of workers of the Foundation FACIA- „ České centrum pro vyjednávání a řešení konfliktů“, the director of� the primary school Boleslavova Mr. Fantura and Roma curator of District Office Prague 4 Mrs Bílá. The main goal of the Project „PRO“ was the drug prevention of Roma people living in the area of Prague 4- Nusle. In 1.10.1997 was this project granted.
